At Allegany Mountain Trail Saddles (AMTS), our custom western saddles are built exclusively for you, one at a time, out of the best materials available. These hand-crafted, custom fit works of art are meticulously assembled by the skilled hands of a master saddler, ensuring quality control can be held to the strictest standards.
Custom Saddle Trees for Western Saddles
By offering dozens of different saddle tree “bars” and being able to offer them in a variety of widths, your hard to fit horse may become not so difficult to fit after all. All the intricate modifications we can make to the bars allow us to essentially build a custom saddle tree for your horse. We also recognize riders might need a saddle to fit multiple horses. Our saddlers can also build on saddle trees designed for a specific breed or shape.
AMTS builds gaited saddles, mule saddles, quarter horse saddles, draft saddles and much more! AMTS gives you the individual attention you need and deserve as a rider. Whether you are interested in a particular styling, an extra degree of comfort, or if security in the saddle is your priority, we work directly with you to ensure your needs are fully met.
Customized Western Saddle Seat Size
Our tested and true protocol will ensure you have the correct western saddle seat size. Establishing the correct seat size in your western saddle is extremely important. If the seat is too small, you can feel pitched forward, causing lower back strain. If your saddle seat is too big, you may not feel secure and you will not have a seat that is balanced enough to let you post or get your feet underneath you.
Customer service is extremely important to Allegany Mountain Trail Saddles and we treat every customer as if they are our only one! Each custom western trail saddle is built with the Amish craftsmanship everyone loves, and proudly bears the title of “made in the USA”. Our custom western saddles are not stapled together as large production line saddles often are. We pride ourselves in providing a high-quality custom western saddle at a production price.
The AMTS Western Saddle Fitting Kit
The most common complaint we hear when people come to us, is that they have tried saddle after saddle without success. The fact that there are no industry standards for saddle tree makers, and because it is impossible to see how the tree interacts with the horse when it is already covered in leather are the two main contributors to this common problem. What one maker calls a “full quarter horse tree” or “gaited tree” can be totally different from the next, thus further complicating finding a good fit.
Allegany Mountain Trail Saddles has designed its western saddle fitting process to be as simple and foolproof as possible. When an in-person fitting is not an option, we send out a saddle fitting kit complete with detailed instructions. It is incredibly important to not only fit the horse when standing still, but also in motion. The “Fit to be seen” forms allow us to do this, where wither tracings and other typical saddle fitting methods fail. We walk you through the process personally and use our years of knowledge to create a fit that has a 100% money back guarantee.
Thank you for taking the time to research our custom western trail saddle products, and we hope to have an opportunity to work with you!
